student loans uk

student loans uk

yes, if you are an eu national (or the familymember of an eu national) and have been living within the eu, the eea or switzerlandfor three years prior to the start of your course. you can apply for a tuition fee loan of up to â£9,000 if you choose to study at a publicly funded university or college. if you choose to study at a privately funded university or college you can apply to borrow up to â£6,000 topay for your course. this does not have to be paid back until you have finished your course and your income is over â£21,000 per year. you will need to apply on a paper application form, which will be available from spring 2015. you will need to apply as early as possible to ensure that your tuition fee loan is in place, ready for the start of your course.

this means you may be applying before you have a confirmed place. you can change your course details later if you accept a place on a different course. eu students can normally only get help with tuition fees. however, in some circumstances you may be able to apply for help with living costs in the same way as a uk national. if you've been living in the uk for three years or more, are an eea or swiss migrant worker, are either the child of a swiss national or a turkish worker in the uk, you may be able to apply for the same finance as a uk national. you can find more information on our dedicated student finance zone at the student room.
